Happy Faces, Green Spaces
Centennial Neighbourhood Event
Centennial Neighbourhood Event
A flourishing community requires a flourishing downtown. In January, The Winnipeg Foundation announced a $3 million commitment to our city's downtown.

The Downtown Green Spaces Strategy is a five-year initiative to support a number of different public amenity projects.

The Foundation has already made a number of major commitments to downtown - $2.5 million over five years for the Centennial Neighbourhood Project, $6 million over 10 years for the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, and $1.6 million over five years for the Manitoba Children's Museum.

The Foundation is also consulting with a number of groups to determine other potential partnerships. Upper Fort Garry, Old Market Square and St. Boniface City Hall are some of the projects being considered. Ten principles and values are guiding the strategy, including: location, community engagement, sustainability, inclusiveness, and historical significance.

The Foundation is looking forward to building connections between donors, charitable organizations, the public and other partners to improve our downtown. For more information about the Downtown Green Spaces Strategy, click here.
