IRCOM - Community Resource Program staff
Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba (IRCOM) is “a place, a mission and an inspiration” says Executive Director, Noelle DePape.
Located at 95 Ellen Street, IRCOM House is a 67-suite transitional housing facility for newcomers. The House is a safe and welcoming place for approximately 300 newcomers – many who are overcoming trauma and facing a variety of challenges.
IRCOM also offers residents support and opportunities, including after-school, literacy, recreation and training programs. Staff and volunteers build relationships with the residents and address their individual needs by connecting them to services and resources in the community.
Last month, The Winnipeg Foundation released its 2008 Annual Report, Sustain Ability, at IRCOM. During the event, DePape expressed how newcomers inspire staff with their positive attitude and drive to succeed. A former resident shared how IRCOM inspired him to help other newcomers as a volunteer.
The Winnipeg Foundation’s 2008 Annual Report profiles agencies, donors and Foundation grants, including one to IRCOM’s Community Resource Program.
