Habit for Humanity build on Elgin Avenue
Habit for Humanity build on Elgin Avenue
Winnipeg Foundation staff recently strapped on tool belts and grabbed their hammers to help a Winnipeg-family build their Elgin Avenue home.

The house is one of 11 being constructed during Habitat for Humanity’s 2008 Blitz Build. The Foundation supported this Habitat build with a grant and many staff members also volunteered their time and labour during the build

Habitat for Humanity provides safe, affordable housing to low-income working families. Eligible families purchase the houses with no deposit or interest but commit to contributing 500 hours of “sweat equity” to Habitat before they can take possession their home.

Since 1987, Habitat has built 151 houses in Winnipeg making it one of the largest and most productive affiliates in Canada.

The Winnipeg Foundation has supported Habitat for Humanity’s work for many years and was pleased to have the opportunity to work shoulder to shoulder with Habitat staff and volunteers, building another home in our community.
