The Role of The Winnipeg Foundation
The Winnipeg Foundation does not review applications nor decide who receives any of the awards.
The Foundation can connect you with schools and educational programs in our community, advise you of existing awards, identify where greater funding is needed and help you determine the award criteria matching your interests with the needs of students and schools.
On an administrative level, the Foundation’s responsibilities include:
Advising schools and selection committees of the available award amount.
Ensuring students are selected according to set criteria and in an objective, non-discriminatory manner.
Arranging payment of awards.

How to Apply for Awards
School-Based Awards
High school students – Ask your High School Counsellor or Student Services staff what scholarships are available to you and how to apply. If you are entering college or university, contact the awards and financial aid office at the school you will be attending.
Post-secondary students – Contact the awards and financial aid office at your college or university for information on awards available and how to apply.
Other Awards
Sports teams, musical programs, professional associations or other organizations generally publicize scholarships associated with them.
Claiming a Winnipeg Foundation Administered Award
Present your award letter upon registration to your college or university. Each school is different so check with your school to find out where to submit your letter. Usually letters are submitted to the Registrar's Office or the Financial Aid & Awards office.
TIP: Processing your award can take several weeks so make sure you submit your award letter a few weeks before tuition fee deadlines to avoid late payment fees.
Your university or college will apply the award amount against your tuition and will bill The Winnipeg Foundation.
For more information about your award, read
Award Program Student Information (PDF).
If you have trouble claiming your award, contact Pat Lilley, Student Awards Officer, call 944.9474 (toll-free 1.877.974.3631) or
