New Grants to Support the Community
The Foundation supported more than 90 charities with its grants approved in January.
The Winnipeg Foundation's Community Grants Program is the main grants program, supporting a wide range of community projects in the areas of community service, education, health, arts and culture, heritage, recreation and the environment.

Application Dates
Organizations may submit a grant application to The Winnipeg Foundation once in the calendar year. For more information, see our Frequently Asked Questions.

Grant requests less than $100,000are considered three times per year:
• January 30th
- decision in May
• April 30th
- decision in September
• September 30th
- decision in January
 
Grant requests $100,000 and greater (including multi-year projects with a total request of $100,000 or over) requirea consultation meeting with a community grants staff before an application may be submitted and are considered once per year:
• December 30th
- decision in June

Submit Your Online Application

Applications will only be accepted through the Foundation’s online grant application process. For detailed instructions on the online application, please download How to Apply Online (PDF).

Please note: You will need your organization's Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Registered Charity number to access the online grant application.

Save & Finish Later
You do not have to complete the entire application at one time; the online grant application includes a “Save & Finish Later” feature which you can access at any time. To access a saved, in progress application, click here.
After You Have Submitted Your Application:
  • You will receive written confirmation of receipt of your application, indicating when the Board will meet to make a decision on your application.

  • A member of our community grants team will be assigned to your organization. This staff member will become your contact person at the Foundation and will review your application, conduct research, and may schedule a visit with your organization.

  • Organizations are responsible for notifying their Foundation contact if there are any changes to the project.

  • The Board of Directors will meet to make a decision on your application, and you will be notified in writing of the decision.
How to Request Payment of a Grant
To request payment of your grant, contact the Community Grants Administrative Officer at 944.9474 ext. 238. Please note your grant number, which can be found on your award letter.

In order to release grant funds, The Winnipeg Foundation requires copies of invoices (where applicable) or other documentation for the use of the funds. More detailed information about what documentation is required for your project can be discussed with the Community Grants Administrative Officer.
Final Report
Once your project is complete, please fill out the final report form and email it to the Grants Team at The Winnipeg Foundation. This report should include:
  • a financial summary of all grant expenses and revenues
  • a project description, including objectives, activities, results and lessons learned
  • how your organization recognized the grant. For more information about recognizing your grant, visit our Grant Recognition page.
