The Literacy for Life Fund supports family literacy programming in Manitoba. The fund, a partnership between The Winnipeg Foundation, Literacy Partners of Manitoba and Winnipeg Public Library, provides grants of up to $4,000 for intergenerational literacy programs in libraries and community centres across the province. Since it was established in 2003, the fund has provided more than $600,000 to a wide range of literacy initiatives.
Project Examples
The Literacy for Life Fund supports a wide range of family literacy programs. Grants typically cover books, refreshments, craft supplies, wages/honoraria, administration, child-minding, professional development and other relevant costs.
The following are not eligible for funding through the program: rent, renovations, capital campaigns and programs that would normally be covered by a school or government agency.
