A Year of Events with Musicnet
The Foundation continues to support arts and culture in our community.
The Literacy for Life Fund supports family literacy programming in Manitoba. The fund, a partnership between The Winnipeg Foundation, Literacy Partners of Manitoba and Winnipeg Public Library, provides grants of up to $4,000 for intergenerational literacy programs in libraries and community centres across the province. Since it was established in 2003, the fund has provided more than $600,000 to a wide range of literacy initiatives.
Application Dates
Literacy for Life grant decisions are normally made by the end of the same month as the application date. Applications dates are:
• February 1st
- for spring & summer programs
• June 1st
- for fall programs
• October 1st
- for winter programs

Organizations may apply for a Literacy for Life Grant once per calendar year and apply for a Community Grant in the same calendar year, but it must be for different projects.
Project Examples
The Literacy for Life Fund supports a wide range of family literacy programs. Grants typically cover books, refreshments, craft supplies, wages/honoraria, administration, child-minding, professional development and other relevant costs.

The following are not eligible for funding through the program: rent, renovations, capital campaigns and programs that would normally be covered by a school or government agency.
