Neighbourhood & Need
Boys and Girls Club of Winnipeg expand to River Heights providing area youth with activities throughout the week.
The Winnipeg Foundation’s Professional Development Grants program is a pilot program that provides charitable organizations access to a broad range of customized and group professional development learning opportunities.
Types of Grants

Open All : Close All
Conferences, short course/workshop grants (up to $1,500)
  • Eligible costs are registration fees, and travel and accommodation if required.
Advance Learning (up to $3,000)
  • This includes tuition fees for courses related to leadership in the not-for-profit sector offered at an accredited learning institute; i.e. college, university, continuing education, etc.
  • Consideration will also be given to learning opportunities on leadership in the not-for-profit sector that are culturally appropriate and community-based.
Mentorships
  • Individual Mentor – one-on-one support for executive directors; time limited basis (up to $4,000)
  • Group Mentorship – a group of cohorts or organizations who commit to growing together as leaders under the leadership of a mentor (up to $8,000)
  • Job shadowing – where the specific nature of the executive director’s work requires special knowledge transfer (up to $10,000)
Application Dates
Conference, short course/workshop grants – letters of request are accepted on a continuous basis.

Advance Learning and Mentorship letters of request are accepted on, or before, the following dates:
• January 30th
- decision in May
• April 30th
- decision in September
• September 30th
- decision in January
 
Organizations may apply for a Professional Development grant once per calendar year and apply for a Community Grant in the same calendar year, but it must be for different projects.

Apply for a Grant
Organizations applying for a Professional Development Grant should first consult with the Director of Community Grants or a Grants Coordinator.

To apply for a professional development grant, submit a letter of request that includes the following information:
  1. Name, address, place of employment, job title/position.
  2. Description of your proposed professional development activity (i.e. type of professional development activity, location, dates).
  3. Why you want or need to do this (i.e. the problem/issues that this professional learning opportunity will help address).
  4. What you hope to achieve and how you will accomplish your aim(s) as a result of this learning.
  5. How you will disseminate this learning to others.
  6. Budget details: list all anticipated revenues and expenses for your professional development activity. (Note: these must balance)
  7. Letters must be signed by the organization’s Executive Director/CEO
Submit letters of request to Rick Lussier, Director of Community Grants by email.
Final Report
A final narrative report and financial summary of actual revenues and expenses are required at the completion of the professional development activity.
