CJNU Broadcasts from The Winnipeg Foundation April 10-30

For immediate release, April 5, 2007. Beginning Tuesday, April 10, CJNU nostalgia radio will broadcast from The Winnipeg Foundation's offices until the end of the month. The station, at 104.7 fm, is Manitoba's first co-operative radio station; it broadcasts music favourites from the 1940s through to the 1970s.

The station is a non-profit community-service organization that is owned and operated by its members. It broadcasts under a special events broadcast license from different community organizations and locations for three to four weeks at a time.

"The Winnipeg Foundation is pleased to partner with CJNU by providing temporary space for its April broadcasts," says Richard Frost, the Foundation's Chief Executive Officer. "CJNU enjoys strong volunteer and member support and plays an active role in our community. We're happy to provide this in-kind assistance."

Part of CJNU's focus while broadcasting from The Winnipeg Foundation is to help promote Will Week 2007, April 23-27, which encourages all Manitobans to have an up-to-date will and to consider making a gift to charity through their will. Many will experts will be on-air during the station's broadcasts from the Foundation offices.

CJNU features veteran Winnipeg broadcasters, including Lee Major, Garry Robertson, Gren Marsh and Harry Taylor. Its volunteer broadcasters range in age from 17 to 82. The station has recently broadcast from Winnipeg Harvest and the Manitoba Antique Association.

The Winnipeg Foundation, your centre for community philanthropy, is Canada's first community foundation. In 2006, The Winnipeg Foundation supported approximately 600 charities with a total of $16.7 million.
