More than 250 local charitable projects supported
The Winnipeg Foundation’s Grants Committee recently approved a total of $2,236,101 in grants with its second round of funding this fiscal year. The grants included more than 250 local projects and 12 grants outside Winnipeg (made through the Moffat Family Fund, a donor advised fund held at The Winnipeg Foundation). The grant round also included approximately 150 grants, totaling almost $125,000, allocated by local students through the Youth in Philanthropy program.
Some highlights from the approved grants include:
- Helping Hands Resource Centre for Immigrants $15,000
Summer Enrichment Program for newcomer children and youth
- Mount Carmel Clinic $25,000
Outreach services program for women involved in the sex trade
- Heritage Winnipeg $10,000
To preserve the last-known wooden streetcar in Winnipeg
- Rainbow Resource Centre $15,000
Community needs assessmentyouth
- National Screen Institute $40,000

The first community foundation in Canada, The Winnipeg Foundation has served our community since 1921.
The Foundation pools and permanently invests gifts from donors of all walks of life. Through its spending formula the Foundation make grants to charitable agencies in the areas of: community service, education, health, arts and culture, heritage, environment and recreation. During its 89 years, the Foundation has granted more than $240 million.
