How to Apply for Awards
School-Based Awards
High school students – Ask your High School Counsellor or Student Services staff what scholarships are available to you and how to apply. If you are entering college or university, contact the awards and financial aid office at the school you will be attending.

Post-secondary students – Contact the awards and financial aid office at your college or university for information on awards available and how to apply.

Other Awards
Sports teams, musical programs, professional associations or other organizations generally publicize scholarships associated with them.
Claiming a Winnipeg Foundation Administered Award
Present your award letter upon registration to your college or university. Each school is different so check with your college or university to find out where to submit your letter. Usually letters are submitted to the Registrar's Office or the Financial Aid & Awards office.

TIPS:
  • Your award may take several weeks to process. Submit your award letter a few weeks before tuition fees are due to avoid late charges.
  • Keep a photocopy of your award letter for your records.
Your university or college will apply the award amount against your tuition and invoice The Winnipeg Foundation.

For more information about awards, read Award Program Student Information (PDF) or see our Frequently Asked Questions page.

If you have trouble claiming your award, contact Pat Lilley, Student Awards Officer, call 204.944.9474 (toll-free 1.877.974.3631) or email.
Student Contact Information
Each award has meaningful impact on its recipient. The Foundation shares the inspiring stories of scholarship recipients in their publications and the website. Your story is important and can inspire others to support education in our community.
