The Winnipeg Foundation’s Summer Internship Program (SIP), established in 2005, matches high school students who have participated in YiP with meaningful, 8-week paid summer jobs at local charitable organizations. The program is designed to introduce interns to the work of non-profit organizations and the challenges and rewards of working in the sector. Working closely with a mentor, interns learn about all aspects of operations for a charity. In turn, host agencies gain staff capacity to carry out projects they might not be able to undertake otherwise.
Past host agencies:
- Health Sciences Centre Foundation
- Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba
- Mentoring Artists for Women’s Art
- Newcomer Employment and Education Development Services
- Nor’West Co-op Community Health Centre
- Reaching E-Quality Employment Services
- Resource Conservation Manitoba
- Special Olympics Manitoba
- The Manitoba Children’s Museum
- The Rainbow Society
- Urban Circle Training Centre
- Zoological Society of Manitoba
