Youth Programming

Are you between the ages of 13 – 30? Have you ever wondered what you could do to help change our city? Check out our programs and story to get connected and make an impact.

Our Programs

Youth in Philanthropy (YiP) engages high school aged youth in grantmaking to charitable organizations based on the issues important to them and needs in their community.

Summer Internship Program (SIP) matches YiP participants with local community organizations for an 8-week paid internship.

Walking Together Grants encourages youth ages 13-25 to lead a project to support truth and reconciliation.

Emerging Leaders’ Fellowship (ELF) encourages young professionals and post-secondary students in Winnipeg to learn more about the non-profit sector.

Our Story

In 1999, The Winnipeg Foundation wanted to hear what YOUth had to say about the needs of Winnipeg. We followed the example of other community foundations across Canada and the United States, and started a granting program directed by high school-student committees called Youth in Philanthropy.

Since then, we’ve added several programs, each with their own way of helping you connect to your community. Whether you are looking for an internship, or you want to develop and implement a project in an organization, getting involved is only a click away.
