RC360 S04E33: Beeproject Apiaries, Froebe Helicopter, Manitoba Amateur Radio Museum

River City 360

In this instalment of River City 360:

  • Have you heard the buzz about urban beekeeping? Chris Kirouac of Bee Project Apiaries will tell us all about the importance of bees and how you can help protect them.
  • Did you know Manitoba was home to the first helicopter flight in Canada and the second helicopter flight in the world? We’ll speak with Charlie Froebe, whose father and uncles designed, built and flew Canada’s first helicopter 80 years ago in Homewood, Manitoba, to learn more about this amazing story.
  • We’ll also continue our conversation with Brigette DePape, Youth Engagement Coordinator at The Winnipeg Foundation, about The Foundation’s Summer Internship Program, and speak with a couple of the interns about their experiences working with local charities.
  • And this week’s RC360 Road Trip took us back to Austin, Manitoba for a visit to the Manitoba Amateur Radio Museum. We’ll speak with Founder and Curator Dave Snydal about the museum’s collection and the importance of amateur radio in our province.
