RC360 S05E10: Health Sciences Centre, West Broadway Youth Outreach

River City 360

In this instalment of River City 360:

  • How can you help those in need during difficult hospital stays? If you’ve got jackets, clothes, deodorant or other amenities, the Health Sciences Centre is looking for donations. We’ll be joined by Evelyn Casey, Manager of Volunteer Services at HSC, to talk about their call for donations as well as their volunteer program.
  • In our continuing coverage of many different projects working towards reconciliation, we’ll speak with Hope McIntyre, Artistic Director at Sarasvati Productions, to learn about Sarasvati's collaborative project Seven Sacred Teachings, and how it will promote reconciliation through storytelling.
  • If your kids or grandkids enjoy reading books, we’ll tell you about this weekend’s Read-A-Thon put on by West Broadway Youth Outreach and The Law Society of Manitoba. We’ll speak with Ken Opaleke, Executive Director of WBYO, to learn all about it.
  • And this week's Winnipeg Impact Maker is Dallas Friesen and his organization, Lynn's Heating, Cooling, Sewer and Drain. We'll learn about how they’ve been helping out the community by volunteering their time at Agape Table.

River City 360 is a project of The Winnipeg Foundation, in partnership with 93.7 CJNU FM. River City 360
