In this instalment of River City 360:

  • Cathleen Epp, Senior Archivist at the Archives of Manitoba will tell us about a special one-day open-house exhibit, displaying letters, photos, and diaries, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
  • Carl Seier joins us to talk about his project, The Stranger Connection, which seeks to build more empathy and understanding by sharing stories about people in our community from all walks of life.
  • We’ll also speak with Haroon Siddiqui, professor at Ryerson University and former editor at the Toronto Star, to speak about Islamophobia and what we can do to combat racism in our society.
  • We’ll also speak with Janis Maudlin, a participant in The Winnipeg Foundation’s Emerging Leaders Fellowship, to learn more about her project, Mellow Vélo, an Open Shop for women and trans people at The WRENCH.
  • And Noah Erenberg, Convener of Community News Commons, joins hosts Nolan Bicknell and Robert Zirk to discuss the latest stories written by citizen journalists on CNC.
