Apply for a Grant

Grants at The Winnipeg Foundation support a wide range of local charitable organizations to make our city a better place to live, work and play.

Community Grants

There are three types of Community Grants. Organizations may apply for one Community Grant per calendar year (ie. you must choose between One-Time, Multi-Year, or Major Capital).

One-Time Grants

The Foundation’s main grants program which supports a wide range of community projects (Up to $100,000)

Multi-Year Grants Up to three years of support On pause for 2019. Watch for details in early 2020 TBA
Major Capital Grants Requests greater than $100,000 for major capital projects 2-Stage Application;
Stage 1 due Mar. 30

Grant applications open approximately six weeks before the due date.

NOTE: All grant applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on the application date. If an application date falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. of the next business day.


Special Program Grants

Organizations may apply to each of the Special Program Grants once per calendar year, as well as the Community Grants program. However, applications must be for different projects.

Professional Development Grants
  • Up to $1,500 for conferences, short courses and workshops
  • Up to $5,000 for advanced management training, management mentorships, and safety training for front-line workers
