This issue of Working Together shines a light on the wonderful work taking place in the world of children, youth, and family programming.
We got to visit with kids blowing bubbles, playing games, and making picture frames for loved ones at Camp Firefly, a grief camp intended to provide joy while helping participants move through complicated feelings of loss. Camp Quality, another incredible volunteer-led program for children and youth, is on a mission to give kids living with a cancer diagnosis an unforgettable summer experience with their siblings.
Summer camp is just one kind of programming The Foundation supports, to learn more about after school programs for youth check out our stories about BGC Winnipeg and Rhama Community and Youth Centre. We also heard from Toba Centre’s CEO, Christy Dzikowicz, about how their new space is supporting healing for children and families who have experienced abuse and learned about new affordable housing projects for women, children, and families fleeing domestic violence .
Other highlights from this issue include a celebratory deep dive into 50 years of Winnipeg Film Group and our cover story about how the incredible generosity of transit workers provided Main Street Project with a new outreach van.
