Immigrant agencies across Canada meet in Vancouver

In June, immigrant agencies will share their experiences and expertise on current projects, including innovative ideas being put into action. The Winnipeg Foundation, along with immigrant serving agencies, employers, and government have received support from Citizenship and Immigration Canada to attend the Maytree Foundation 2009 ALLIES Learning Exchange: Leading with Ideas Conference. The event will offer ideas and perspectives to further support Manitoba’s unique provincial immigration programs.

Faron Hall National Fund for the Homeless
An anonymous donor created a new endowment fund at the Foundation to support homeless people by providing a “hand up” or by “bridging gaps.” The fund allows the Foundation to use its discretion and national network to provide annual grants to community agencies across Canada. This fund is a tribute to Faron Hall, a homeless Manitoban who recently saved a young man from drowning in the Red River.
