Summer Internship Program
Gain practical work experience and a professional edge with our Summer Internship Program (SIP) at an organization taking on a meaningful short-term project.
The Summer Internship Program (SIP) is a paid, eight-week job that builds on what you learned in the Youth in Philanthropy Program (YiP).
As a summer intern, you will work with a mentor at a local registered charity. This gives you the chance to learn new skills, share knowledge, and make connections in the sector.
Impact your career and community
Winnipeg Foundation will place you with an organization based on your skills and the organization’s needs.
The organization will pair you with a mentor who will share ideas and offer guidance. This mentorship will help you learn about the charitable sector, explore possible career paths, and gain valuable hands-on experience. Your work will also support a meaningful summer project for the organization.
SiP participants work full-time during July and August at a pay scale of $16.50 per hour.
To apply, you need to meet these requirements:
- You are available to work throughout July and August.
- You have participated in the Youth in Philanthropy program in the past year.
- You are in Grade 11 or higher at the time you apply.
- You have not participated in SIP before.
We will accept applications from interns and organizations in the spring. Generally, we announce the deadline in February or early March.
The Summer Internship grant offers up to $6,000 to support intern wages and an administrative stipend for the eight-week program.
You may apply for a Summer Internship grant even if you have applied for a Community Grant or special program grant in the same year, provided it is for a different project.
To apply, the internship must meet the following requirements:
- The internship must take place in Winnipeg during July and August.
- Your project should introduce the intern to the non-profit sector, with preference given to those focused on sector and leadership development.
