Major Capital Grants ($100,000+) support capital campaigns and large capital projects.

Eligibility

  • Your organization must have a registered charitable number from Canada Revenue Agency or be a qualified donee to apply for a Major Capital Grant. A charity registration number is required to access the online application form; if you are a qualified donee, please contact us for details on how to access the application form.
  • You may apply for one Major Capital Grant per calendar year. Organizations may apply for a Community Grant, or any special program grant, in the same year, but applications must be for different projects.

Criteria

Projects must primarily benefit the citizens of Winnipeg. Please review our Major Capital Grants Policies and Guidelines [PDF], to ensure your project fits the criteria. Application Process and Dates

There is a two-stage application process for Major Capital Grants ($100,000+). Applications must be submitted online. The application dates are as follows:

Pre-consultations, March 22 – April 26, 2024

Applicants must have a pre-consultation meeting with a member of our Community Impact Team before applying for a Major Capital Grant. Please schedule your pre-consult through Bookings. You can find instructions on how to use Bookings under Key Documents.

Stage 1 Application due by May 1, 2024, 4:30 p.m.

  • Basic information, including amount requested and brief project description.
  • Stage 1 applications that meet The Foundation’s funding priorities will be invited to submit a Stage 2 application.

Stage 2 Application (by invitation) due by June 27, 2024. Notification of decision in November.

Required information includes project purpose and goals, implementation plan, and evidence of need, along with required financial documents.

Note: If an application date falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. the next business day.

The online application form is active for the four weeks before the due date.
