2026 Spring/Summer

A message from the CEO: Community Life Flourishes For All

Spring is a season of renewal and a time when new growth emerges, and familiar landscapes evolve. For Winnipeg Foundation, this spirit of renewal feels especially meaningful right now, reminding us that change is not only constant, but something we shape together.

This year is not only Winnipeg Foundation’s 105th birthday but also marks an important moment of transformation for our organization. You will notice through our website, newsletters, and, of course, this publication that we have introduced a refreshed brand.

The Foundation’s new brand reflects who we are today and the role we strive to play in our community.

It is an expression of our ongoing commitment to be responsive, inclusive, and forward-looking in how we support a ‘Winnipeg where community life flourishes for all.’

Winnipeg Foundation, together with our donors and community partners, has reached an extraordinary milestone. More than $1 billion has been granted back to our community since the Foundation was established in 1921. What makes this moment even more remarkable is the momentum it represents. While it took more than a century to reach this first billion, we now expect to grant the next $1 billion in less than a decade, which is a powerful reflection of the growing generosity, vision, and collective commitment to building a Winnipeg where community life flourishes for all.

This momentum is driven by the enduring strength of our endowment model and the continued trust of our community. Over the past year alone, more than 9,700 gifts were made to our 5,000+ endowment funds, and approximately $115 million was distributed to support community priorities. In this issue of Working Together, you will read more about how generosity translates into community well-being, about how each gift can change lives for the better and make our city a stronger, healthier home for all Winnipeggers.

As we steward Winnipeg Foundation into its next century, we are guided by a deep responsibility to ensure it continues to grow, evolve, and serve future generations to remain here for good, forever. We are profoundly grateful to everyone who is part of this journey, and we look forward to optimism and purpose in all that we continue to build together.
